We are pleased to be again offering our equine reproduction short courses at our facility in Wynnewood, Oklahoma in 2026, providing attendees with a wide variety of horse breeding information! These horse breeding shortcourses have both mare and stallion components (depending upon which course you attend), and have practical sessions. In the practical sessions, attendees will be able to review ultrasounding of a mare (note that due to legal limitations, teaching the act of ultrasound is not permitted, although technique is reviewed); be trained to physically perform an insemination of a mare, passing a pipette through the cervix of the mare; create and review cytology smears; and in the stallion courses, learn to prepare the AV; watch a semen collection; evaluate semen – including learning how to manually count sperm – and prepare semen for shipment; and create and review a sperm morphology slide.
It’s our intention to provide information that will enable horse breeders to save enough money from what they learn to cover the cost of the short course. But it’s not only a breeder-level course! Over the years, we have had many veterinarians attend the course in order to learn about new science and techniques, or to brush up on their existing knowledge. It really is a comprehensive equine reproduction short course at an advanced level presented in a way which can be understood by even those with a minimal level of prior horse breeding knowledge. We do this by explaining initially using basic terminology, advancing through the course to use of the technical terminology – it’s all a learning curve!
