Stallions at the Stallion Station

In addition to its other services, Equine-Reproduction.com LLC also offers a stallion station servicing all breeds at its facility in Oklahoma, where breeding stallions may be managed for the breeding season, or housed permanently. Stallions can have semen collected and shipped from the facility, including to Canada (currently under CEM restrictions for semen importation from the USA). Stallions live out in paddocks with shelters and trees offering shade and protection from the weather. Large bales of hay are provided to ensure the potential for continual grazing (which is healthier for horses), although custom hay is also provided where needed. Horses are grained twice daily (or more if required) using high-quality “brand name” feeds. The stallion paddocks are adjacent to each other, separated by a minimum of 10′ aisleway, and the fencing is Ramm Flex-Fence rail with electrified ShockLine fencing as a top line.

Our laboratory is well equipped with high technology equipment and supplies, enabling us to ship the best quality semen available from the resident stallions, or from stallions visiting for semen collection and processing. Semen can be shipped 7 days a week (M-F by courier or airline counter-counter; Sat. and Sun. by airline only). The only exception to a daily collection schedule is if there is a specific reason related to semen quality or the health of the stallion (e.g. an older stallion that does not have adequate sperm production for a daily shipment), in which case shipping days may be limited. All shipments are evaluated using our Hamilton-Thorne CEROS Computer Assisted Semen Analyser. All stallions standing at Equine-Reproduction.com LLC undergo a cooled semen evaluation at the beginning of every season to ensure that the semen being shipped has the potential to be the best quality when the mare-owner receives it.

We are often asked by mare owners “what do you charge for semen shipments from these stallion?”. Below is an outline of the charges applied by Equine-Reproduction.com LLC for the collection, processing and shipment of cooled semen shipments from stallions standing at the Oklahoma facility stallion station servicing all breeds. We do not charge “chute fees”, “stallion handling fees” or similar charges, which we consider to be unreasonable surcharges in excess of a charge already applied.

Charges for cooled semen shipment within the Continental USA
Collection charge: $225
Equitainer deposit (refunded if the Equitainer is returned clean within 5 days – if credit card is used a “hold” is applied) – we do not charge a rental fee for the Equitainer: $300

To obtain an accurate estimate, go to FedEx.com and create a shipment quote. Our Zip Code is 73098 and our town is Wynnewood. The Equitainer dimensions are 18″ x 11″ x 11″ with a weight of 12 lbs. Note that the courier companies make additional charges for add-ons such as Saturday or First-Overnight deliveries, or deliveries to residential addresses.

Belafonte d’Avalon is the result of some of the best sport horse and sport pony breeding in the world. His dam, Mata Hari, was by our jumper stallion, Mannhattan and out of the pony mare, Idealiste. Idealiste was 14:1 hands tall, out of Kathy’s endurance racing Anglo Arabian mare and by the Oldenburg stallion, Ideal. Belafonte’s sire was the German Riding pony, Hilkens Black Delight. Hilkens Black Delight, a Weser-Ems stallion, won the 2005 Weser-Ems licensing and was the first pony ever to be invited to the Oldenburger Stallion’s Parade where he received a standing ovation and was described as being “as close to perfection as possible”. He was described by the licensing committee as the most stunning pony they had seen. Belafonte followed in his father’s footsteps in receiving similar praise for his outstanding conformation, movement and character.

Belafonte fulfilled his performance requirement by attending the 30 Day Pony Stallion Testing in October of 2010. He again impressed the judges with his enthusiastic and “can do” attitude and successfully completed the testing with one of the highest scores ever awarded both in North America and in Europe.

Belafonte competed in eventing, dressage and stadium jumping. He was undefeated 6 out 7 times in 2013 and finished as Area V Champions at Training Level and 8th at Training at the American Eventing Championships. Belafonte also competed in Dressage and Stadium Jumping (1.20 meters) and never placed lower than second. As he was a stallion and ridden by an adult, he competed with the “big kids”.

Belafonte was fully licensed, approved and activated with the Rheinland Pfalz-Saar, Weser-Ems. He was also fully licensed and approved but not currently activated with Sport Pony Studbook Society – SPSS (UK – where semen is available for all of Europe), International Sporthorse Registry – Pony Division, and Le Cheval de Sport Belge (sBs).

Candola is an imported, licensed Holsteiner that was appreciated at the stallion selection for his fine conformation, his presence and good movements. Especially his superb canter, in which the stallion showed extreme balance, had a very powerful jump and used his hind very well. In his 70 day test in Munster Handorf, Candola showed his quality with a third place in class 1, with high notes for jumping and character. Competing up to 1.40 in Germany before his importation, he has gone on to compete in North America up to 1.30. His pedigree reads like the who’s who in show jumping! Just about every sire in his pedigree competed up to 1.60 and many of the dam line have also had exemplary jumping careers.

Sire of the 2008 licensed Candola, is the world famous stallion Caruso. Caruso displayed his fantastic qualities, for example in the German Championships for young horses in Warendorf, where he earned a splendid third place in the finals of the six-years-olds under Ulrich Kirchhoff in 2002. Caruso belongs to the most promising sporthorses of his generation. He has many placings in 1.50 and 1.60 classes and was qualified for the Olympics in Quatar and Lummen. Caruso was at the Olympics as a teammember for Saudi Arabia.

With his superb temperament, outstanding jumping ability and form, and can do attitude, Candola will make an exceptional cross for North American breeders.

Colorado Skrødstrup was imported from Denmark in 2006. He was the 2004 Knabstrupper Stallion Grading Champion in Denmark. A bay leopard spotted stallion Colorado Skrødstrup is the 2nd registered and approved Knabstrupper stallion in the USA and the only Knabtrupper stallion in the world to have successfully completed a recognised FN stallion test, which earned him “Elite Status” – again currently the only Knabstrupper stallion worldwide to hold that award. Attending the FN 70-day stallion performance test in 2010, Colorado Skrødstrup achieved 5th place overall, and 4th place in the dressage scoring (which includes “interior” scores for test aspects such as rideability). After importation to the United States, he began training for the jumpers, and placed consistently. At his first “A” rated jumper show (the “Oaks”, San Juan Capistrano, California) against very qualified competition, he received a second and a third place in the 1.10m against 89 horses!

Colorado is registered and approved with the KNN (Danish Knabstrupper Association) and has his stallion licensing with the AKA (American Knabstrupper Association), Rheinland Pfalz-Saar International (Knabstrupper Book) as well as being the first Knabstrupper stallion approved with Le Cheval de Sport Belge (sBs).

Avalon Equine’s breeding goals have always been to produce International caliber horses that the amateur owner/rider could compete. In order to accomplish that, we believe that not only does a horse have to be athletic, talented and have a flawless conformation, it must also possess a temperament that is flawless, as well. With Dracula, we believe we have accomplished that. His dam, Morticia, is one of our top broodmares that has produced two licensed sons. Morticia is by Mannhattan who himself competed to Level 8 in the jumpers before retiring due to an injury. She is out of a Frohwind daughter that also competed successfully in dressage until becoming a broodmare.

Dracula is by Davidor. Davidor, an impressive black Hanoverian stallion by Davignon and out of Wanessa (Warkant/Eiger). Davidor was a proven FEI stallion, having shown successfully through Intermediare in Germany before his importation. His sire, Davignon I, is considered to be one of Donnerhall’s best sons, having earned Class I scores at his licensing in 1991 before going on to win the Bundeschampionat in 1992. Davidor’s damsire, Warkant, is by World Cup I, who also sired the famous Weltmeyer. Like Davignon I, Warkant earned Class I scores at his performance testing and is the sire of numerous approved sons, as well as top competition horses such as Hubertus Schmidt’s Olympic mount, Wansuela Suerte. Davidor’s dam, Wanessa, is a proven producer and a Bundeschampionat winner as well. She has consistently been represented at stallion licensings by her sons and produced mares of top quality.

ES Sarkozy narrowly missed out on a medal at the Bundeschampionat final for five year old dressage horses with a 9.0 for overall impression and 9.5 for his graceful, ground-covering walk. He was also one of the top ten at the World Championship final in Verden, where he was placed fifth. In 2009, Sarkozy was the resplendent Hanover Riding Horse Champion and celebrated Vice Bundeschampion. At the Bundeschampionat he was awarded 9.9 for all his basic paces and 9.5 for conformation. He also completed his 30 day test with an impressive dressage-oriented final score of 9.01. It would be no exaggeration to say that Sarkozy’s walk is one of the most outstanding of all current German dressage stallions.

On the dam’s side, Sarkozy’s pedigree boasts the brilliant genes of performance horse producer Weltmeyer, Bogenschütze by Bolero and Lungau. This former state stallion at the Celle stud is the dam’s sire in pedigrees of successful championship horses such as Vice World Champion Beauvalais, double Olympic gold medal winner Salinero and Olympic horse Brentina.

Elite Stallion Toronto
Elite Stallion Toronto

“Click” to view larger image

Toronto, an “Elite Stallion” with the Hanoverian Verband, is a Dutch stallion acquired by the Celle State Stud to further the jumping talent of the breeding program. His performance test single score in jumping was 9.3. This powerful bay stallion descends from the jumping horse producer “Now or Never M,” who is stationed in Holland. Toronto’s grandsire is the prepotent Voltaire, a consistent sire of international jumpers with temperaments of gold. The damline is also very interesting – Toronto’s damsire is Belisar by Saros xx, who is a full brother to Swazi xx, the sire of the Trakehner stallion Consul.

The scope and athleticism of Toronto can certainly be attributed to his sire, the Voltaire son Now or Never M. Voltaire looks back on a long lasting career in international show jumping ridden by Jos Lansink. He was among the top jumping horses at shows in Calgary, Stockholm, Lanaken, Helsinki, Wiesbaden and at Olympia in London. Voltaire obviously passed on his characteristic ability to perform to his offspring both in dressage and jumping. He is descended from the legendary Furioso II who like none before him influenced Germany’s horse populations by producing offspring with enormous versatility and various purposes.

Now or Never M has many approved sons to his credit and is well on his way to establishing his own line in Hanoverian breeding. Now or Never M was champion in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 1998. He was a stallion of great presence. He won the finals in the IAN trophy in the KWPN competition in the year 2000. In 2001, Now or Never M gained 7th place. He was one of the 12 selected KWPN horses for the World Championships at Lanaken in 2001 and he won first place in the Stallion Competition 2000/2001 in Giesbeek. Now or Never M has proven himself as a sire by producing a multitude of uniform foals with very good riding type, good quality and outstanding presence. They are known for having wonderful movement, good minds and exceptional jumping ability. Now or Never M currently has a very high breeding value of 152 points for jumping on the German FN’s ranking system and has shown to consistently improve the canter.

Toronto’s dam is by Belisar, a Saros xx son. Saros comes from a strong line of successful steeplechasers, race winners, and sport horses. The infusion of Thoroughbred blood is essential in warmblood breeding and this particular line has had an excellent influence which can also be seen through the Trakehner stallion Consul.

Toronto gained the following scores at his performance test; character 8, temperament 8, willingness to perform 8, conformation 8, trot 6.33, canter 8 walk 7.67, natural jumping ability 9, free jumping 8,83, jumping manner 9, jumping technique 8.67, cross country 10. He won the jumping phase of the test which could be expected because of his outstanding pedigree. Among his offspring produced to date, he has one licensed son, 5 state premium mares, 15 auction horses.

Sempatico’s first show in the US was Dressage at Devon, with little preparation (due to a tornado we had here and Sempatico’s heavy breeding schedule earlier in the season) Sempatico shined; placing in the top 4 in every class and winning all of his IBC classes. With limited showing due to an extremely busy breeding schedule, Sempatico qualified for the 2006 USDF championships at his first show.

Sempatico’s first foal crop in Germany had 2 inspection Champions out of a very small foal crop. The US foal crops received numerous premium ratings and several championships at their various warmblood inspections.

At three years old, he completed the 2015 North American 70-Day Stallion Test and received 10s from both jumping and both dressage judge riders and 9.5 for Temperament, Willingness to Work, and Constitution (among other high scores) which made him the clear 2015 North American Stallion Test Champion in Jumping, Gaits/Rideability, and the Overall Champion. He began his competition career in the fall of 2016 with several top placings in the 5-Year-Old Jumpers including wins at County Heir and Tryon. Then he debuted at the Winter Equestrian Festival in the winter of 2017 in the 6-Year-Old Jumpers, winning classes and having other numerous top three placings to earn Champion of Week 6 and Reserve Champion of Week 9 in an incredibly competitive field. He was been invited to participate in the WBFSH Developing Jumper Exhibition at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon in the 6-Year-Old class. Afterward, he will continue in his competitive career.
